Chicken Preparation

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts (cubed)

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch) Cornstarch can yield crispier texture.
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp salt

Sauce

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional) Adjust to taste for heat.

Cooking

  • oil for frying Heat to medium-high temperature.

Preparation

  • Cut chicken into cubes and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic salt, and salt. Coat each piece of chicken in the mixture.

Frying

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a separate pot, combine sugar, water, vinegar, soy sauce, and chili flakes to create the sauce.
  • Cook until sugar is dissolved and sauce thickens.

Serving

  • Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve over white rice or with steamed vegetables. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds for added flavor and aesthetics.
