  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for fluffy texture.
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar, sifted Add gradually to achieve desired sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Use high-quality vanilla extract for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream Can adjust for consistency.
  • 1 pinch salt Adjust to taste.

Preparation

  • Beat the softened butter with a mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing on low and increasing to medium-high after each addition, scraping down sides as needed.
  • Add the vanilla extract, heavy cream, and pinch of salt. Beat on high speed for another 2-3 minutes until light and creamy.
  • If too thick, add a teaspoon more cream; if too thin, add a little more powdered sugar. Adjust salt and vanilla to taste.

Notes

Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for several months. Allow to come to room temperature before using and rewhip to restore texture.
