  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or American) Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices bread Choose your favorite type of bread.
  • 1 tbsp mustard You can use yellow or Dijon mustard.

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
  • Stir in mustard, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheese until melted.

Cooking

  • Preheat another skillet or griddle. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place two slices of bread butter-side down in the skillet, add the beef and cheese mixture, then top with the remaining bread slices butter-side up.
  • Grill until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, until cheese is melted.
  • Remove, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, consider including spices like paprika or a dash of hot sauce into the beef mixture. Ensure you toast the bread well for the best crunch.
