  • 1 pound salmon fillet Fresh, high-quality salmon is recommended.
  • 1 cup sushi rice Rinse before cooking for the right texture.
  • ¼ cup teriyaki sauce Homemade or store-bought.

Toppings

  • ¼ cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • to taste pickled ginger (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation and Cooking

  • Cook sushi rice according to package instructions, then let it rest.
  • Marinate the salmon fillet in teriyaki sauce for at least 15 minutes.
  • Cook the salmon by either pan-searing in an oiled skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side or baking in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  • Prepare toppings by slicing cucumber and avocado and julienning the carrot.
  • Assemble bowls by placing sushi rice at the bottom followed by salmon and toppings.
  • Drizzle with more teriyaki sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using jalapeños or spicy mayo as toppings. Adjust seasonings to taste.
