Ingredients
  

Aromatics

  • 1 clove garlic clove Chopped
  • 1 medium carrot Diced
  • 1 medium onion Chopped
  • 3 tbsp olive oil For cooking aromatics

Main Ingredients

  • 1.75 oz bacon lardons Adds smokiness
  • 1 lb ground beef For the sauce
  • 1 leaf bay leaf Enhances flavor
  • 1.67 cups crushed tomatoes Base of the sauce
  • to taste salt For seasoning
  • to taste pepper For seasoning

Spaghetti

  • 14 oz spaghetti noodles Main component
  • water for cooking spaghetti Add salt to the water

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Chop the garlic, dice the carrot, and chop the onion.
  • Add 3 tbsp olive oil to a pot and cook the garlic, carrot, and onion over medium heat for 6 minutes.

Cooking the Sauce

  • Add the bacon lardons to the pot.
  • Add the ground beef and bay leaf, cooking over medium heat for 4 minutes.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  • Reduce to low heat and simmer for 2 hours.

Cooking Spaghetti

  • Cook the spaghetti in a pot with salted water over medium heat for 9 minutes.
  • Drain the spaghetti and toss with the Bolognese sauce before serving.

Notes

For serving, consider adding freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil leaves. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
