Ingredients
  

For the Cookies

  • 1 cup butter (softened) for the cookie dough
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 3 cups flour

For the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • ½ cup butter (softened) for frosting
  • 4 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (for frosting)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, beat together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until creamy.
  • Add 2 eggs, ½ teaspoon of vanilla, ½ teaspoon of baking soda, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Mix well.
  • Finally, stir in ½ cup of sour cream and gradually add 3 cups of flour until the dough forms.

Baking the Cookies

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Cream Cheese Icing

  • In a mixing bowl, beat together ½ cup of softened butter and 4 oz. of softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Gradually add 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix until fluffy.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
