  • 150 ml milk (lukewarm) Helps activate the yeast.
  • 70 ml water (lukewarm) Helps activate the yeast.
  • 7 g instant yeast Can be substituted with active dry yeast.
  • 12 g honey Adds a touch of sweetness.
  • 400 g all-purpose flour Main ingredient for the dough.
  • 7 g salt
  • 30 g unsalted butter (room temperature) Increases richness and flavor.

Preparation

  • Stir the yeast into the lukewarm milk, water, and honey. Allow the mixture to rest until foamy.
  • Add the all-purpose flour, salt, and room temperature butter to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic (8-10 minutes).
  • Allow the kneaded dough to rise in a warm area until doubled in size (1 to 1.5 hours).
  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and fill if desired.
  • Let the shaped balls rest for 30 to 40 minutes until puffed.

Cooking

  • Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) for frying.
  • Fry the buns in small batches, turning occasionally until golden brown.
  • Drain the buns on paper towels before serving.

Notes

Store leftover buns in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer storage.
