  • 2-3 pounds deer roast Choose a cut suitable for roasting.
  • 1 piece onion, chopped A yellow or white onion works best.
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced Adjust to taste.
  • 2 pieces carrots, chopped Add more or less based on preference.
  • 2 pieces potatoes, chopped Any variety of potatoes can be used.
  • 1 cup beef broth Homemade or store-bought.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Fresh thyme can be substituted.
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary Fresh rosemary adds more flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the deer roast in the crockpot.
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and potatoes around the roast.
  • Pour the beef broth over the roast and season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender.

Serving

  • Once done, remove the roast, slice, and serve with the vegetables.

Notes

Let the roast rest for a few minutes after cooking to keep the meat juicy when slicing.
