Mushroom Sauce Ingredients

  • 8 oz shiitake mushrooms or portobello mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 cup red wine Use a high-quality wine.
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter Use for sautéing.

Cooking Instructions

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown.
  • Stir in minced garlic and fresh thyme, cooking for an additional minute.
  • Pour in the red wine, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  • Let the wine reduce for a few minutes, then add in heavy cream.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste and let simmer until thickened.
  • Serve warm over cooked steak or any preferred dish.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days in the refrigerator. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Reheat gently, adding a splash of water or cream if necessary.
