  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the milk, oil, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Rolling

  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
  • Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into rolls.

Baking

  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and cooked through.

Frosting

  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  • Once the rolls are cool, spread the frosting over the top and serve.

Notes

Serve warm with cream cheese frosting. For storage, keep in an airtight container for up to two days, refrigerate for a week, or freeze for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
