  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Frosting

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.

Frosting and Serving

  • For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread the frosting over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

Serve warm for enhanced flavor. Can be paired with coffee or tea. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
