Ingredients

For the Pizza Base

  • 1 pound Pizza dough (Store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup Pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese (Shredded)
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (To taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper (To taste)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh basil (For garnish) Garnish before serving.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (Optional, for topping) Use as desired.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • Divide pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into 6-inch round circles and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush edges with olive oil.
  • Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each round, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over sauce and add any additional desired toppings.
  • Press a small well in the center of the cheese.

Cooking

  • Crack one egg into the well on each pizza, being careful not to break the yolk.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Add any final toppings around the egg.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the egg white is set but the yolk is still runny, the crust should be golden brown, and the cheese should be melted and bubbly.
  • Let cool for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil and season with red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Serve immediately while the yolk is still runny.

Notes

For optimal results, use high-quality ingredients. Allow homemade pizza dough sufficient time to rise for better flavor. Use fresh herbs for garnishing and moderate toppings to avoid soggy crust.
