Pickling Liquid

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Add for extra spice.

Preparation

  • Combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, black peppercorns, mustard seeds, and red pepper flakes in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

Assembly

  • Layer the peeled hard-boiled eggs, sliced sausage, and thinly sliced onion in a clean glass jar or container.
  • Pour the hot pickling liquid over the arranged ingredients, ensuring everything is submerged.

Cooling and Refrigerating

  • Allow the jar to cool to room temperature, then seal tightly and refrigerate.
  • For best flavor, let sit for at least 24 hours, ideally 3-5 days.

Notes
