Preparation

  • Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
  • Add salt and the whole onions to the boiling water.
  • Reduce the heat and let the onions simmer for about 30 minutes until they are tender.
  • Remove the onions from the pot and let them cool slightly.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and season with garlic powder and black pepper.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave or stovetop.
