  • 14 oz 14 oz (400 g) trofie pasta or any short pasta shape
  • 2 cups 2 cups (300 g) shelled peas fresh or frozen
  • 1 unit 1 onion (chopped) can substitute for shallots
  • 7 oz 7 oz (200 g) bacon lardons can be substituted with smoked tempeh for a vegetarian option
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (60 mL) crème fraîche can use heavy cream as an alternative
  • to taste unit Salt and pepper essential for enhancing flavor
  • enough to cover unit Water to cover ingredients in the pot

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Add the trofie pasta, shelled peas, chopped onion, and bacon lardons to a pot.
  • Season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
  • Pour in enough water to cover everything.
  • Cook over low heat for about 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the water is absorbed.
  • Stir in the crème fraîche until creamy, then serve warm.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm, can be paired with a light salad or crusty bread. Stores well in an airtight container for up to three days.
