Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Plus more for cooking
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla (if using) until smooth.

Making the Batter

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

Cooking

  • Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.
  • Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set, about 2 minutes. Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Stack and serve with butter, maple syrup, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

For creative toppings, use fresh berries, banana slices, chocolate chips, or whipped cream. Store leftovers properly to maintain texture and flavor.
