For the meatloaf

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped Sauté until soft.
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded Can be substituted with other cheeses.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or seasoned.
  • 1/4 cup milk Can be substituted with non-dairy milk.
  • 1 piece egg Helps bind the meatloaf.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, sauté chopped mushrooms until soft and water evaporates, about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until well combined and shape into a loaf.

Cooking

  • Place the meatloaf in a baking dish and bake for 1 hour, or until cooked through.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve alongside creamy mashed potatoes and gravy. Leftovers can be made into sandwiches.
