Ingredients
  

For the Meatloaf

  • 1 lb Ground beef or a mixture of meats
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

For the Mashed Potatoes and Cheese

  • 2 lbs Mashed potatoes Peeled and boiled
  • 1/2 cup Milk (for mashed potatoes)
  • 1/4 cup Butter (for mashed potatoes)
  • 1 cup Cheese (shredded, e.g., cheddar)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes until cooked through.
  • While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the mashed potatoes by boiling peeled potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter.
  • Once the meatloaf is done, spread a layer of mashed potatoes on top and sprinkle shredded cheese over it.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  • Let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a pop of color, garnish with chopped parsley or chives. This dish pairs well with steamed green beans or a garden salad.
