  • 1/2 cup Fresh Basil Leaves Use fresh only for maximum flavor impact.
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar Can be swapped with agave or honey.
  • 1 cup Water Prefer filtered water for a cleaner taste.

Preparation

  • Juice the lemons to obtain one cup of fresh lemon juice.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water, and heat over medium until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool before blending in the lemon juice and basil until smooth.
  • Strain the mixture to remove any basil bits for a smoother texture.
  • Pour the strained mixture into a suitable container and place it in the freezer.
  • Allow the sorbet to freeze for about four to six hours, or until firm.

Serving

  • Serve in chilled bowls or elegant dessert glasses, garnished with a sprig of fresh basil or a thin lemon slice.
  • Can also be served as a palate cleanser between courses or alongside a warm dessert.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the freezer. If it hardens too much, let it sit at room temperature for about five minutes before scooping. Consume within the first week for optimal flavor.
