  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter If using salted butter, eliminate the salt from the recipe.
  • ¼ cup honey Use high-quality honey for best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce Adjust based on desired heat level.

Seasonings

  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes Adds heat; can be adjusted to taste.
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper Optional; use for additional heat.

Preparation

  • Add the unsalted butter to a sauce pot and heat over medium heat until melted.
  • Add the honey and hot sauce to the melted butter and whisk together to combine. Cook over medium-high heat until bubbly.
  • Add the kosher salt, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper to the honey mixture and lower the heat to simmer. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from the heat and set aside until needed.
  • For best results, refrigerate the sauce for at least two hours to allow time for the flavors to combine.
