Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk Warm, not hot
  • 1/4 cup water Warm, not hot
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Icing Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Adjust for desired consistency

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • In a small saucepan, heat milk, water, and butter until warm.
  • Add the warm liquid to the dry ingredients along with the egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembly

  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread melted butter over it.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar evenly.
  • Roll the dough tightly and slice it into 1-inch pieces.
  • Shape each piece into a heart shape.
  • Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Icing

  • Mix icing sugar with milk to create a glaze and drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or tea. Store in an airtight container. For variations, try nutmeg or chocolate chips.
