  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls Sub rolls, baguettes, or tortillas can also be used.
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded Other cheeses like cheddar or mozzarella can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing the onions.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  • Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cooking

  • Once the beef is cooked through, stir in the provolone cheese until melted.
  • Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and fill each roll with the beef and cheese mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-10 minutes until the rolls are toasted and the cheese is bubbly.

Notes

For extra flavor, add diced bell peppers or mushrooms with the onions. For a spicy kick, include sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes. To store leftovers, wrap each sandwich tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
