  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups egg noodles or potatoes Choose based on your preference.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Cheddar or mozzarella cheese can be used.
  • 1 onion chopped Adds flavor and sweetness.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • Optional: garlic powder, Italian seasoning For added flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is cooked through, then drain excess fat.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and seasonings.

Assembly

  • In a greased casserole dish, layer the cooked beef mixture, followed by the noodles or potatoes, and then pour the soup mixture on top.
  • Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the top.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added crunch, consider topping with crushed crackers or breadcrumbs before baking. This dish stores well for a few days and can be frozen for up to three months.
