Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef (can substitute with ground turkey)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 4 cups Broccoli Florets (fresh or frozen)

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (or honey/coconut sugar)
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth (or wine/water)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch (optional)
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they are soft and fragrant.
  • Once the onions are translucent, add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns. Cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Cooking

  • Stir in the broccoli florets, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender but still crisp.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch (if using). Pour this mixture over the beef and broccoli in the skillet.
  • Mix everything thoroughly, allowing the sauce to coat the beef and broccoli evenly. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened, adjusting seasonings with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • If desired, drizzle with sesame oil and stir in grated ginger for an extra layer of flavor, cooking for another minute before serving.

Notes

Serve over rice or noodles, and for an added touch, sprinkle with sesame seeds or green onions. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen up to three months.
