  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Increase for more heat
  • Freshly-ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside.

Cooking

  • In the same skillet, add the ground beef and minced garlic, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until browned.
  • Break up the meat so that it cooks evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  • Pour the sauce over the browned beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken.
  • Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet, tossing everything to coat evenly in the sauce.

Notes

For best results, blanch the broccoli quickly to retain its crunch. Adjust the flavor of the sauce to fit personal preference.
