  • 1 cup long grain white rice Rinsed under cold water
  • 2 tablespoons butter Unsalted butter recommended
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth Use chicken for a non-vegetarian dish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped Optional for garnish

Preparation

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in the rinsed rice and toast for 2–3 minutes, coating it in the garlic butter.
  • Add broth and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley if using.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for 2-6 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth or water to prevent drying out.
