Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 Avocados, ripe, pitted, peeled, and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh lime juice (from 1 lime)
  • 1 tsp Salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup Onion, finely diced
  • 3 Tbsp Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic, minced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced (optional) Optional ingredient

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 Jalapeño, finely minced For a fresh spicy kick
  • 1 pinch Ground cumin For warmth
  • Extra lime juice If you like it tangier

Instructions

Preparation

  • Choose ripe avocados: They should give slightly when pressed but not feel mushy.
  • Prep your mix-ins: Dice the onion, chop cilantro, mince garlic, and dice tomatoes if using.
  • Juice the lime: Fresh lime juice is key for flavor and helps slow browning.

Mixing / Assembling

  • Add the chopped avocados to a bowl.
  • Pour in lime juice and sprinkle with salt.
  • Mash to your preferred texture: For chunky guac, mash lightly and leave some larger pieces. For smooth guac, mash more thoroughly until creamy.

Finishing

  • Stir in onion, cilantro, garlic, and tomatoes (if using).
  • Add a pinch of cayenne if you want gentle heat.
  • Taste and adjust: more salt, more lime, or a touch more cilantro depending on your preference.
  • Serve right away for the freshest flavor. If you want it slightly chilled, cover and refrigerate up to 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Mash the avocados before adding chunky mix-ins to keep onion and tomatoes from getting crushed. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent browning.
