  • 2 cups beef broth For added richness, use low-sodium beef broth.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add diced onion. Sauté until translucent.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the French onion sauce, cooked rice, and beef broth. Mix well.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and top with shredded cheese.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or mushrooms when you sauté the onions. This casserole pairs well with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
