Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and sliced into 16 pieces Choose varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best flavor.
  • 2.5 tablespoons superfine sugar, plus a little extra for the top Can adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon water Used to help soften apples.

Pastry

  • 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry, about 375 g (13 oz) One sheet is enough for this recipe.
  • 1 beaten egg optional, for brushing Creates a golden sheen on top.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) / 400°F / Gas, 6.
  • Add the apple slices and water to a saucepan. Cover and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the apple softens.
  • Remove from the heat, stir in the sugar, and let the mixture cool.
  • Lay the puff pastry on a flat surface and cut it into 6 equal rectangles or squares.

Assembly

  • Lightly brush the edges of 3 pieces of pastry with water.
  • Divide the cooled apple mixture among the 3 pieces, placing it in the center of each.
  • Cover each with the remaining pastry pieces and press the edges closed with a fork.
  • Cut 3 small slits in the top of each parcel. Brush with beaten egg if using, then sprinkle with sugar.

Baking

  • Place parcels on a nonstick baking tray or a tray lined with baking paper.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until puffed and golden. Cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

These parcels are versatile and can be served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
