For the Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened but not melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Consider adding almond extract for extra flavor
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a healthier option
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Substitute with white chocolate or butterscotch chips if desired
  • 1 cup Easter-themed M&M candies Can use regular M&Ms or any colorful candy

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and M&M candies gently.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Allow cooling on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks. For longer storage, freeze cookies in a freezer-safe bag.
