  • 2 cups marinara sauce Can substitute with any tomato-based sauce.
  • 2 cups uncooked pasta (penne or rotini) Use a type that will cook through properly.
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Topping for the casserole.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adjust seasonings to taste.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional for added flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional) Add before serving for freshness.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large baking dish, combine the frozen meatballs and uncooked pasta.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs and pasta, stirring to combine.
  • Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the top, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and stir the casserole gently, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  • Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil if desired before serving.

Notes

Consider using homemade marinara sauce for enhanced flavors. Top with breadcrumbs or panko for crunch. Make meatballs from scratch for added customization.
