Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef chuck roast Choose a well-marbled roast for best results
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Caramelizes during cooking
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups provolone cheese For melting over the beef
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños or sautéed mushrooms For topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  • Place the roast in the crockpot and add sliced onion on top.
  • In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over the roast.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  • Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks in the crockpot.

Serving

  • Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls topped with cheese, and drizzle some of the au jus broth for dipping.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days. For freezing, use a freezer-safe container and it will last up to three months.
