  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into small meatballs.

Cooking

  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, and cook meatballs until browned on all sides.
  • Remove meatballs and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add flour and stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in sour cream and soy sauce; then add meatballs back to the skillet.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes on low, allowing flavors to meld.

Notes

Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives. A light salad or crusty bread complements the meal nicely. For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.
