Ingredients
  

For the beef

  • 2 pounds beef (chuck or brisket) Cut into chunks for easier cooking.
  • 1 small head cabbage Chopped for sautéing.
  • 1 medium onion Chopped.
  • 4 cups beef broth For simmering the meat.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • Olive oil as needed Olive oil For browning the beef.

For the mashed potatoes

  • 4 large potatoes Peeled and chopped.
  • Butter or cream to taste Butter or cream For mashing the potatoes.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the beef on all sides.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  • Pour in beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
  • While the beef is cooking, peel and chop potatoes. Boil them in salted water until tender, then drain and mash with butter or cream.
  • Chop cabbage and sauté in a separate pan until wilted and tender.
  • Serve beef with mashed potatoes and sautéed cabbage on the side.

Notes

To store leftovers, place them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container.
