  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Plain or seasoned breadcrumbs work well.
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped Use yellow or white onions for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk Can be substituted with plant-based milk if desired.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder.

For the Glaze

  • 1/4 cup ketchup Regular or low-sugar ketchup can be used.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Adds a savory depth to the glaze.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, salt, and pepper until thoroughly combined.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place in a greased baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour the sauce over the meatloaf.

Cooking

  • Bake for about 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Leftovers can be enjoyed cold in sandwiches.
