Preparation

  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Add the cooked macaroni and broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
