Ingredients
  

For the Blueberry Syrup

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries Use fresh or frozen blueberries based on availability.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust according to sweetness preference.
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Cocktail

  • 4 ounces gin Choose a high-quality gin.
  • 2 ounces fresh lemon juice Use freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 2 ounces blueberry syrup Homemade, from the above recipe.
  • club soda To top the cocktail.
  • ice cubes For serving.
  • fresh blueberries For garnish.
  • sprigs of thyme For garnish.

Instructions
 

Prepare the Blueberry Syrup

  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries break down (about 10 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids and store in the refrigerator.

Mix the Cocktail

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add 4 ounces of gin, 2 ounces of fresh lemon juice, and 2 ounces of blueberry syrup to the shaker.
  • Shake well until chilled.
  • Fill two glasses with ice cubes.
  • Strain the mixture into the two glasses.
  • Top each glass with club soda and stir gently.
  • Garnish with fresh blueberries and sprigs of thyme.

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality gin and fresh ingredients. Adjust the sweetness of the syrup to taste. Store syrup in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
