Ingredients
  

Blueberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (more or less to taste)
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 2-3 pieces lemon peels (optional) Add for extra lemon flavor

Lemonade Base

  • 4-5 pieces lemons (juice of) About 3/4 cup juice
  • 4 cups water (for lemonade)
  • mint, lemon peels and slices, blueberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Peel and juice 4-5 lemons.
  • In a saucepan, add 1/2 the lemon peels, blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water for simple syrup.
  • Heat until the sugar has dissolved and the blueberries start to pop, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let sit a few minutes to cool.
  • Strain out the berries and lemon peel using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

Mixing the Lemonade

  • In a large pitcher, add the blueberry simple syrup and 4 cups of cold water.
  • Chill the mixture in the fridge.
  • When chilled, pour over ice and add optional garnishes.

Notes

If storing leftovers, use a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week. To brighten flavors, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
