Main ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef Use high-quality ground beef with some fat content.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup ketchup For mixing into the meatloaf.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Topping ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ketchup For topping.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, ketchup, eggs, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  • Mix the topping ingredients (ketchup and brown sugar) in a small bowl and spread them over the meatloaf.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, green beans, and garnish with parsley or chives. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
