  • Peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized chunks.
  • Place potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a generous pinch of salt.

  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them sit over low heat for a minute or two to evaporate excess moisture.
  • Mash the potatoes using a masher or ricer until smooth.

Final Mixing

  • Add butter and warmed milk or cream to the mashed potatoes and stir until creamy and combined.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add optional ingredients like garlic or cream cheese if desired.
  • Serve hot with a pat of butter or herbs.
