  • 6 slices slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche) Use stale bread for better absorption.
  • 4 large large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Frozen berries can also be used.

For Serving

  • Powdered sugar For dusting
  • Whipped cream For topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the greased baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and press down slightly to soak.
  • Add the mixed berries on top.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 15-20 minutes.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with whipped cream.

Notes

For a fun twist, add flavors like lemon or almond extract, or mix chocolate chips into the custard. Storing leftovers: cool to room temperature, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for about a month.
