  • 4 pieces onions (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (sliced)
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil For cooking
  • 1⅛ lb rump steak (cut into pieces/strips) Can substitute with other tender cuts
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch Act as a thickening agent
  • 1 tsp sugar To balance flavors
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • Scant 1/2 cup water Use to adjust consistency
  • 2 sprigs cilantro (to finish) For garnish

Cooking Steps

  • Heat the sunflower oil over medium heat.
  • Add the onions and garlic and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add the rump steak and cook over high heat for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the cornstarch.
  • Add the sugar, soy sauce, and water.
  • Reduce to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Finish with cilantro and serve.

Notes
