  • 2 medium ripe bananas Ensure bananas are overripe for optimal sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Packed.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional for extra richness.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.

Mixing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
  • If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These brownies can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. A light dusting of powdered sugar or pairing with vanilla ice cream enhances the flavor.
