Ingredients
  

For the apple filling

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, or Fuji varieties recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances the flavor of the apples.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust based on the tartness of apples.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon To enhance flavor.

For the crumble topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Can substitute with coconut oil or plant-based margarine.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt To balance flavors.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Spread the apples in a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, softened butter, and salt until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Baked apple crumble can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. It can also be frozen for up to three months. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
