Ingredients
  

For the Dip

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

For the Smokies

  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 pound thick-cut bacon Use thick-cut bacon for best texture.
  • 1 package all-beef smoked cocktail sausages (14 ounces)
  • toothpicks For securing the bacon-wrapped sausages.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, mayonnaise, and brown sugar for the dip. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Place the barbecue sauce in one shallow bowl and the brown sugar in another.
  • Cut each slice of bacon crosswise into thirds.
  • Roll each smoked sausage in barbecue sauce, then coat with brown sugar.
  • Wrap each sausage with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  • Arrange the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 5–7 minutes, then flip each smokie.
  • Continue baking for another 5–7 minutes, until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.
  • Serve warm with the chilled dipping sauce.

Notes

Line the baking sheet well to make cleanup easier. Fancy toothpicks add a festive touch.
