For the Casserole

  • 2 cups diced apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji) Select tart apples for best flavor.
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional) Add for extra crunch.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  • Cut the biscuit dough into quarters and add it to the apple mixture, stirring to combine.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the apple and biscuit mixture and stir until well combined.
  • If using, fold in the chopped pecans.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt. This casserole can also be served with coffee or paired with savory options like bacon or sausage for brunch.
