  • 2 slices slices bread Choose a sturdy or artisan bread.
  • 2 large Grade A eggs Use fresh eggs for best results.
  • 0.5 tablespoon Salted butter Spreadable and at room temperature.
  • to taste Kosher salt and pepper Adjust seasonings as preferred.

Preparation

  • Using a sturdy glass, carefully press down in the center of each bread slice to make a well for the egg.
  • Butter each slice of bread with the room-temperature salted butter to make spreading easier.
  • Place the rack in the air fryer basket and spray it with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Crack each egg into a small ramekin, being cautious not to break the yolk.

Cooking

  • Carefully pour one egg into the indentation of one of the bread slices and repeat with the second egg in the other slice.
  • Sprinkle the eggs with kosher salt and pepper to taste.
  • Air fry at 375℉ for six minutes for an over-easy yolk, adding a minute or two for a firmer yolk.
  • Use a spatula to carefully remove the egg toast from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve hot and fresh, garnished with herbs or paired with sides like fruit or bacon. Experiment with toppings to suit your taste.
